Job Title: Documentation & Billing Specialist (Contract)
Location: San Antonio, TX (Hybrid)
Work Arrangement: Onsite training required; hybrid work eligible with at least one onsite visit per month
Employment Type: Contract (W2 only)
Role Summary
This role is responsible for reviewing, collecting, and validating clinical and billing documentation required for order placement and accurate reimbursement. The position works closely with internal teams, external clinics, and field personnel to ensure payer requirements and documentation standards are met while maintaining high customer service levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the document collection process across key operational departments, including:
- Order Management (including select initial cycle documentation)
- Wound Documentation
- Prescriber Documentation
- Proof of Delivery
- Apply independent problem‑solving skills to develop streamlined documentation processes while minimizing outreach to Wound Care Clinics and adhering to established policies and procedures
- Review and analyze payer‑specific requirements and coverage criteria to determine appropriate documentation and billing accuracy
- Conduct detailed reviews of clinical documentation, including medical records, prescriptions, operative reports, and history and physicals, to ensure billing compliance
- Collaborate with Wound Care Clinics and field personnel to obtain missing or incomplete documentation required for order placement or billing
- Deliver a high level of customer service in a fast‑paced, competitive environment
- Assist team members as needed to ensure continuity of operations
- Participate in additional duties as assigned by management
- Adhere to and support all company policies, procedures, and compliance standards
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and email
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Strong multitasking skills with the ability to adapt to a fast‑paced and evolving work environment
- Ability to perform repetitive keyboarding activities for extended periods (95% of the time) and frequent phone usage (approximately 60% of the time)

- Home Health Agencies
- Skilled Nursing Facilities
- Wound Care Centers
