Deputy Registrar (part-time)

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; two years of clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Current valid driver’s license and good driving record required. Based on the Virginia DMV point system, record must not reflect a total of six or more demerit points within the preceding twenty-four months, or one major violation of six demerit points with the preceding thirty-six months. Out of state driving records must be obtained by applicant and presented at time of interview. Records must reflect at least three years of history and be dated within thirty days of interview date. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.

Duties

Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in a variety of clerical functions involving voter registration, absentee voting and all aspects to conduct fair elections. as mandated by the Code of Virginia.

The Deputy Registrar also…..

• Reviews and processes voter registration applications received on-line, in-person or by mail with 100% accuracy.
• Files voter registration applications as needed.
• Provides information to the general public concerning voter registration and election related issues.
• Learns all aspects of Voter Registration reporting.
• Serves as front lobby support person as needed.
• Scans voter registration applications and all voter correspondence into the Voter Registration Elections System.
• Assists in the processing of Provisional ballots including research and decision making.
• Assists with Logic and Accuracy testing of voting machines as needed.
• Complies to the laws regarding elections in accordance with the statues in Code of Virginia.
• Assists with maintaining the Registrars website content to ensure accuracy (back-up).
• Performs other work as required.

Shift

28 hours/week; varies Monday – Friday; 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; includes some evenings and weekends.
