Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, insurance, and schedule appointments
- Insurance verifications and breakdowns. Treatment plan presentations
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, ensuring accurate medical records and insurance documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist dentists during procedures through chairside assisting, including preparing materials, taking vital signs, and performing basic dental imaging like X-rays and 3D scans.
- Maintain infection control standards by practicing aseptic techniques and ensuring all clinical areas are sterile and organized.
- Support clinical staff with tasks such as taking vital signs, explaining procedures using dental terminology, and assisting with general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, or pediatric dentistry cases.
- Handle administrative duties including answering phones, managing medical documentation, coding procedures accurately for billing purposes, and updating medical records.
- Ensure smooth clinic workflow by coordinating patient flow during four-handed dentistry sessions and supporting infection control protocols.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare environment is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical terminology, and medical coding practices.
- Hands-on experience with dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting, X-ray procedures, and taking vital signs.
- Strong understanding of infection control protocols and aseptic techniques within a dental setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively using dental terminology and explain procedures clearly to pediatric patients when needed.
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry and familiarity with advanced imaging tools like 3D scanners is advantageous.
