Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a welcoming environment for all visitors
- Schedule appointments accurately using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Manage patient check-in/check-out processes, including collecting payments and updating medical records
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls efficiently
- Assist with medical billing and coding tasks, including CPT, ICD-9/10 codes, and insurance claims processing
- Maintain organized dental records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive health information
- Support administrative functions such as filing, faxing, data entry, and managing office supplies
- Coordinate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth patient flow and appointment scheduling
Skills
- Proven experience in dental or medical office administration with strong front desk skills
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and insurance procedures
- Familiarity with health information management standards including HIPAA compliance
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and data entry
- Exceptional customer service abilities combined with professional phone etiquette
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations
- Previous clinic or dental office experience highly preferred; familiarity with insurance verification processes is advantageous
