ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

As a Court Services Assistant III, you’ll step into a dynamic role at the heart of the justice system, where your expertise ensures that cases move smoothly and fairly through the courts. This advanced journey-level position offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex assignments across criminal, civil, probate, juvenile, and appeals, while working closely with judges, attorneys, and the public. You’ll be trusted to review and process critical legal documents, prepare and manage court calendars, issue writs and warrants, and support courtroom operations during hearings and trials. Every role brings variety—whether you’re coordinating jury services, handling specialized filings, or ensuring compliance with legal procedures—and your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and integrity of court operations. TELEWORK OPPORTUNITIES

This position may be eligible for partial telework following an initial training period contingent upon the Court’s operation unit.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To qualify, you must meet one of the following options at the final filing date of this bulletin:

OPTION I:
Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent -AND- three (3) years working in a business environment, including general administrative, clerical, and/or retail experience, providing customer service, cash handling, and utilizing basic computer skills -AND- United States citizenship.

OPTION II:
An associate’s degree or equivalent number of units (60 semester or 90 quarter)* from an accredited college -AND- one (1) year of general administrative, clerical, and/or retail experience providing customer service, cash handling, and utilizing basic computer skills -AND- United States citizenship.

Note:
Credit for experience is based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a pro rate basis (e.g. working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience). Overtime does not count toward additional credit.

EVALUATION:
Qualifying evaluation of education, training and experience based upon submitted application and supplemental questionnaire. No person may submit an application more than once every 6 months.

ASSESSMENT:
Applicants who best meet job-related qualifications will be invited to participate in the assessment process that consists of an online examination, weighted 100% covering customer service, proofreading, and reading comprehension. No person may complete this assessment more than once every 6 months.

ELIGIBILITY:
Applicants who successfully pass each (and all) recruitment steps will be placed on an eligible list which will remain active for approximately six (6) months and may be invited to participate in a selection interview. Other vacancies may be filled using this list.
