The role:

As a Clinical Research Facility Receptionist within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, you will be the welcoming face of the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, supporting patients and visitors at every stage of their journey. This is a rewarding and people-focused role where your professionalism and compassion will make a real difference in a busy clinical research environment. You will play a key part in ensuring the smooth running of the department through effective administration and patient coordination.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre
  • Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00
  • Fixed‑term for 12 months

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide a high‑quality reception and administrative service, acting as the first point of contact for patients and visitors
  • Accurately record patient admissions, appointments, transfers and discharges on Trak Care and relevant systems in real time
  • Maintain and update patient records, ensuring demographic information is correct and available when required
  • Communicate effectively with clinical teams and external stakeholders while maintaining strict confidentiality at all times
  • Prepare, track and manage health records, ensuring documentation is complete and ready for scanning and filing
  • Arrange patient transport and support appointment scheduling, including follow‑up visits
  • Handle enquiries, incoming mail and general administrative tasks to support the smooth running of the department

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

  • Good general education including standard grades or equivalent with strong literacy and numeracy skills
  • Previous experience in a reception or administrative role ideally within a healthcare or health records environment
  • Proficiency in IT systems including patient administration systems such as Trak Care and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage sensitively with patients and staff
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload and work accurately under pressure
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast paced environment
  • High attention to detail with an understanding of data protection and confidentiality requirements
