DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports LIHEAP services by providing essential clerical tasks and front desk assistance to clients. It helps maintain smooth daily operations within the Franklin County Assistance Office. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:
Front Desk Support: Assist clients, answer questions, accept applications, and complete preliminary screenings
Application Review: Check mail applications for completeness and perform file clearances
Call Handling: Transfer calls, provide information, and direct inquiries to appropriate staff
File Management: Prepare folders, purge outdated materials, and organize updated documents
Mail Processing: Open, date stamp, distribute mail, and complete computer clearances for applicants
Scanning Tasks: Scan documents, modify electronic images, attach records, and maintain scanning equipment
Energy Assistance Work: Process applications, fax vendor sheets, retrieve computer submissions, and maintain LIHEAP and Crisis phone lines

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time, seasonal employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Seasonal employment runs approximately 6-8 months during the fall and winter seasons to assist clients in the process of applying for heating assistance.
- Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch.
- Travel and overtime as needed.
Work Conditions: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.
Telework: This position may be eligible to telework part time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Chambersburg, PA. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting hourly rate of $18.83 (before taxes).- You will receive further communication regarding this position via email. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Graduation from high school; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:

- Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Franklin County. If no eligible candidates who live within Franklin County apply for this position candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
