DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides essential clerical and administrative support to the Policy, Planning, and Legislative Affairs staff within the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA). The role ensures efficient daily operations by managing documents, maintaining records, coordinating communications, and supporting office logistics. All responsibilities are carried out with a strong commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and established departmental procedures.

  • Organizes and types letters, memorandums, reports, agendas, and other documents as required.

  • Serves as the bureau receptionist and will greet and assist visitors, take messages, schedule meetings and conference rooms, and responds to general inquiries, as well as provides telephone coverage for the office.

  • Enters shopping carts and processes goods receipts in SAP for various supplies.

  • Processes incoming and outgoing mail, including registered mail and FedEx packages.

  • Arranges and coordinates travel for office staff, collects receipts, and submits expenses for reimbursement.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Temporary full time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • No benefits with this temporary position.
  • Work hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday thru Friday with a 30-minute lunch.

  • Telework:
    You will not have the option to telework in this position.

  • Salary:
    Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting hourly rate of 18.46 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Special Requirements (NSRs):

  • Must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.


Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
