Title: CalWORKs Outreach Specialist
Program: MAOF CalWORKs Stage 1 (Los Angeles County)
Salary: $23.00 – $25.46 Per Hour
Openings: 1 Position
Status: Full Time

Job Summary
The Outreach Specialist will assist in identifying, coordinating, and executing all outreach activities for CalWORKs Stages 1, 2, 3 and APP. This position will be responsible for presenting at outreach events throughout the service areas to increase the enrollments in all CalWORKs programs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide counseling, child care information and supportive services referrals to CalWORKs participants at the DPSS office or any partners.
- Inform CalWORKs participants about required provider documentation for selected provider type.
- Provide clerical and administrative support to Outreach Coordinator.
- Provide warm handoffs between potential clients and intake staff.
- Answer incoming calls promptly and with proper phone etiquette.
- Assist in researching outreach events within the service areas to enroll and attend as needed.
- Cross-train departments on CalWORKs child care programs.
- Meet with city officials within our service areas to educate on our CalWORKs child care programs.
- Track attendance at outreach events and perform follow up communication with attendees.
- Provide reports regularly as needed on attendees, enrollments, and referrals.
- Respond to emails/texts/phone calls, timely.
- Contact parent-selected provider and inform them about the child care process.
- Input all pertinent data on participant, child(ren) and provider in the MAOF outreach database.
- Participate as a unit member in the evaluation and improvement of CalWORKs child care services to participants, providers and the general public.
- Use discretion, confidentiality, and sound judgment to handle participant issues and the case files.
- Regular attendance (assigned schedule).
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, workshops, and conferences, as assigned.
- Assist with outreach event set up and tear down.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED; preferred background in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related fields. Experience with the Los Angeles County Welfare System and CalWORKs is a plus.
- Language Skills: Proficient in verbal and written English and Spanish.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Transportation: Must have a valid driver’s license, current insurance, and own automobile.
- Flexibility: Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
- Self-Motivation: Independent, self-motivated with excellent prioritization, project management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Familiarity with delivering culturally responsive services and maintaining confidentiality.
- Professionalism: Represent MAOF positively and professionally while building cooperative working relationships.
- Public Engagement: Excellent public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to address customer inquiries effectively.
- Confidentiality: Experience handling sensitive matters and a commitment to quality service.
- Background Check: Must be fingerprinted and cleared through the Department of Justice.
