Position Summary
The Business Operations Manager carries out duties related to business, accounting and operational needs of the Department of Psychiatry, as well as management of human resource functions within the department, including direct supervision of several departmental administrative staff. Working under the direction of the Department Administrator, the Manager initiates and coordinates business functions (external contracts, expense reimbursements, procurement, travel), and oversees HR functions (recruitment, employment processes, payroll, leave accounting, records).
The manager serves as a key resource to departmental and divisional administration for policy interpretation, implementation and assuring efficient and compliant processes.
Required Qualifications Education
Business Administration, Management, or related field. Will consider additional related post‑high‑school education in lieu of required experience.
Experience
3 years of responsible administration and personnel management experience. Will consider additional related post‑high‑school education in lieu of required experience.
License
No license required.

- Strong attention to detail.
- Moderate to high level proficiency with Excel spreadsheets.
- Ability to communicate effectively in brief, focused and well‑organized oral and written presentations.
- Interpersonal skills with ability to provide excellent supervision and customer service, while ensuring fiscal compliance and rules adherence.
- Ability to analyze and assess situations and problem solve, with a high degree of autonomy.
- Ability to plan and organize, implement and/or coordinate administrative functions for all business and human resource processes.
- Ability to establish work priorities and provide follow‑through to insure completion of activities in a timely manner.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information and maintain strict confidentiality in all matters using professionalism and discretion, even when not directly related to HR actions.
- Must be able to work independently, be flexible and maintain positive working relationships.
- Knowledge and familiarity in the Human Resources field, including knowledge of federal laws (FMLA, FSLA) and employment policies and practices in large institutions.
Preferred Qualifications Education
Business Administration, Management or related field.
Experience
Experience working in a large, complex public institution, university or health sciences center setting.
License
No license preferred.
