Reports to: Maintenance Director
Overall Job Functions
· Field all breakdown calls while on duty and with the necessary assistance from co-workers arrange for repairs in the most cost effective and expedient manner possible
· Monitor e-mail, computer and phone lines for incoming communications concerning vehicle repairs and arrange repairs in accordance with approved procedures.
· Assist lead Night Dispatch Manager with all dispatch and management of drivers
Specific responsibilities and tasks
· Breakdown & Maintenance
o Perform remote troubleshooting with drivers and walk them through basic checks and repairs
o Search databases and websites for repair facilities
o Monitor vehicle repair progress and communicate with the repair facility, driver, Operations personnel and freight customer as appropriate
o Review incoming estimates and invoices
o Process invoices and issue POs and payments in accordance with approved procedures
o Coordinate necessary repairs for safe and legal operation in the most cost effective manner
o Arrange lodging as needed for drivers with equipment in repair
o Perform various clerical duties related to the Maintenance Department as directed
· Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Proper phone etiquette when dealing with drivers and office personnel
· Proficient in Microsoft applications
· Able to prioritize with a sense of urgency and follow through
· Knowledge of DOT Out Of Service criteria
· Knowledge of FMCSA regulations with an emphasis on vehicle maintenance, driver fitness and HOS compliance
· A good working knowledge and understanding of Class 8 tractor and trailer repairs
· 1+ years transportation breakdown or maintenance experience preferred
· 1+ years transportation operations experience preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year
