Job Summary
Local Pullman construction company of 29 years (Sullivan-Built.com) is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper / Administrative Assistant to join our dynamic team. This vital role combines core bookkeeping responsibilities with administrative support, ensuring the smooth operation of financial processes and office functions. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting skills, proficiency in various accounting software, and excellent organizational abilities. Responsibilities

  • Manage daily bookkeeping tasks including data entry, journal entries, and account reconciliations using software such as QuickBooks Online & Contractor Foreman.
  • Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records and identify discrepancies promptly.
  • Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
  • Conduct general ledger accounting activities, including month-end closing procedures and account analysis.
  • Assist with payroll processing, tax filings, and governmental accounting requirements as needed.
  • Support budgeting efforts by tracking expenses and preparing financial summaries for management review.
  • Provide administrative support such as managing correspondence, scheduling appointments, and maintaining organized filing systems.
  • Collaborate with external auditors during audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial data.
  • Utilize technical accounting knowledge to ensure compliance with industry standards and internal policies.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks Online; experience with financial & scheduling software is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles, double-entry bookkeeping, and general ledger reconciliation processes.
  • Familiarity with governmental accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Excellent skills in bank reconciliation, account analysis, journal entries, and account reconciliation procedures.
  • Ability to perform 10-key typing efficiently for data entry tasks.
  • Knowledge of payroll processing and accounts payable/receivable management.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
