Mundo Verde was founded in 2011 as Washington, DC’s first “green” public charter school. Today, Mundo Verde serves over 1,200 students across two campuses. With the hiring of a new Executive Team, the launch of a new strategic plan, the completion of construction at the Calle Ocho Campus, and its fifteen-year anniversary in 2026, Mundo Verde is at an inflection point in its development as an organization. Position Overview: The Front Desk Receptionist position is a key operational role focused on ensuring the school runs safely, smoothly, and in a welcoming manner. Reporting to Front Desk Manager, the receptionist serves as the initial point of contact for families, staff, and visitors when they arrive on campus. While this person serves as the primary receptionist for a designated home building, this is a campus-wide position. The Receptionist works in close coordination with the front office team at the adjacent building. This individual works an eight hour day, with a half hour unpaid lunch. The individual will receive their specific schedule from their manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Front Desk Management
- In a culturally competent manner, provide warm and professional customer service to families, staff, and community members at the Front Desk, including greeting visitors, assisting families, answering phones, taking messages, and routing calls.
- Lead the student check-in/check-out processes, confirming that individuals who pick up students are authorized to do so.
- Manage visitor sign-in procedures taking full, ensure safety of the front desk, independently own visitor ID verification and building access.
- Coordinate the receipt of all deliveries, mail, and packages.
- Deliver materials, supplies, meals, and messages to classrooms as needed.
- General Administrative Support
- Help prepare family-facing materials, packets, forms, and communications.
- Help organize, distribute, and restock classroom, office, and student supplies.
- Maintain storage areas, supply closets, and shared operational spaces in a clean and organized manner.
- Support posting and maintaining signage, forms, emergency information, and operational materials.
- Own daily student attendance tracking and Student Information System (SIS) data entry, including logging tardies, early dismissals, answering emails, and conducting family outreach for absences.
- Assist in the collection of family payments through regular phone and email communication to ensure timely account reconciliation.
- General Operations Support
- Help complete daily operational readiness checks.
- Report facilities, safety, or operational concerns promptly to the appropriate staff member.
- Fulfill administrative tasks related to our National School Lunch Program.
- Maintain Administration of Medication (AOM) certification, Epinephrine Administration certification, and CPR certification.
- Serve as part of the building’s emergency response team.
- Work collaboratively with the other campus to ensure operations at each mirror each other.
- Maintain an organized and accessible Lost and Found area, ensuring items are regularly sorted and displayed for easy retrieval by families and students.
- Perform other related duties, as necessary, to support the team’s goals and objectives.

Terms of Employment:
- Schedule: Full-time, 8 hour workday
- Location: Campus based (Calle 8 or Cook Campus)
- Supervision: This position does not have any direct reports
- Position Type: This is a full-time, 12-month hourly non-exempt position and therefore eligible for overtime pay under the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act
- Pre‑Employment Requirements: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a TB test, fingerprinting, and a background check

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- 1–3 years of work experience in school operations, administration, customer service, office support, or a related field
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing excellent service
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond calmly in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Basic technology skills, including email, Google Workspace, and data entry
- Ability to move throughout the building, lift and carry school materials and supplies, and support active daily operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a school, early childhood setting, or family-facing environment
- Experience supporting front office operations and/or student services
- Familiarity with school operations, safety procedures, and student support routines
