Job Summary
We are seeking motivated individuals to join the Radiology Department at University Hospital Birmingham. The successful candidate must be able to work the following shift patterns.
- Receptionist based at BHH/WHH (Working 37.5 hours per week)
- Shift pattern: a combination of 8‑4, 12‑8 and 9‑5
- Working 5 × 7.5‑hour shifts across a 7‑day service, including weekends and Bank Holidays
Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required
We are looking for individuals with experience in customer care, reception duties and excellent communication skills. The post requires:
- Work within strict deadlines and use personal initiative.
- Ensure accuracy and attention to detail.
- Prioritise workload and manage time effectively.
- Use NHS clinical systems such as CRIS and Oceano.
- Work within a team.
- Liaise with staff, patients and external agencies (GPs, dentists, etc.).
- Provide non‑clinical support and information on appointment queries.
- Notify patients of new or changed appointments.
- Communicate sympathetically and sensitively by telephone or face‑to‑face.
- Escalate conflict situations when necessary.
Qualifications
- Good general education (e.g., GCSE English and Maths A‑C) – GCSE Level 9‑4
Experience
- Experience in public/customer service.
- Experience with Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook).
- Experience using IT systems.
- Experience in a busy office/customer care environment.
- Knowledge of administrative systems and office procedures through on‑the‑job training.
- Desirable:
Experience in healthcare.

Pay Scheme and Contract Information
