Title Clerk (Texas DMV & Multi-State Experience Required)
Houston, TX (On-site)
We are seeking an experienced Title Clerk with strong knowledge of Texas DMV regulations and out-of-state title processing to join our dealership team. This role is critical to ensuring all vehicle title transactions are completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with state requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Process vehicle titles, registrations, and transfers in accordance with Texas DMV guidelines
- Handle in-state and out-of-state title transfers, including complex title issues
- Ensure proper documentation for all deals (retail, wholesale, and consignment)
- Submit title applications and follow up on pending titles
- Process monthly VIT (Vehicle Inventory Tax) filings and payments
- Verify lien releases, payoffs, and ownership documentation
- Work closely with accounting and sales teams to ensure deal accuracy
- Maintain title logs and track pending, rejected, and completed titles
- Resolve title discrepancies and DMV-related issues efficiently
- Support general administrative and back-office duties as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years of dealership title clerk experience
- Strong understanding of Texas DMV rules and title procedures
- Experience with out-of-state title transfers
- Familiarity with VIT reporting and compliance
- High attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple deals and deadlines simultaneously
- Experience with dealership management systems (e.g., DealerCenter or similar) preferred
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
