We are seeking an experienced Administrative Legal Assistant with a background in legal, compliance, and nonprofit environments to support a Vice President & General Counsel at a mission-driven organization. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented environment and enjoys anticipating needs, improving processes, and supporting strategic priorities.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience supporting senior executives or teams in a legal, nonprofit, governance, or other related environments.

Responsibilities of the Administrative Legal Assistant:

  • Provide high-level administrative support to the VP & General Counsel, including coordination of priorities, meetings, and communications
  • Manage complex scheduling, logistics, and internal coordination across teams
  • Assist with governance and board-related activities, including preparing materials and tracking follow-ups
  • Support document preparation, proofreading, and organization for legal, HR, and compliance-related materials
  • Help manage projects and initiatives by tracking deadlines, organizing information, and ensuring follow-through
  • Serve as a liaison across departments to support communication and workflow efficiency
  • Conduct research and assist with preparing reports, presentations, and briefing materials
  • Support occasional travel coordination and meeting logistics
  • Contribute to process improvements, automation, and organizational systems

Requirements of the Administrative Legal Assistant:

  • 5+ years of experience supporting senior executives or teams in a professional environment
  • Experience in legal, nonprofit, governance, or related environments strongly preferred (paralegal or legal assistant background is a plus)
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate needs and work independently
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Comfortable working with detail-oriented leadership and managing competing priorities

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Hybrid schedule with approximately 3–4 days per month in-office (with occasional additional days for key meetings or events)
  • Standard workday (approximately 7.5 hours), Monday through Friday
  • Office located in downtown Washington, DC, with convenient access to Metro (Farragut North)

In addition to the base salary, compensation includes a discretionary annual bonus and a highly competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, retirement contributions, and generous paid time off.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
