The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.

Responsibilities – What you’ll do

  • Provide administrative support to Budget Director and Assistant Directors – includes scheduling meetings, document management and records retention, open record requests, spreadsheet work, special project assistance, etc.
  • Coordinate drafting, proofing, and submission of Missouri Executive Budget and appropriation bills.
  • Coordinate publication of Missouri Executive Budget and related budget documents – includes website publishing.
  • Assist Legislative Coordinator with proposals, legislative hearings, tracking and bill reviews.
  • Supervise support staff – includes coordination of workload, scheduling overtime, coaching, performance assessment, quality control, and approving leave requests. Member of division’s management team.
  • Collaborate with other support staff for IT problems – includes assisting division staff with computer and other technical problems.
  • Maintain personnel files and spreadsheets – includes submission of personnel forms.
  • Coordinate new employee setup – includes personnel paperwork, computer system setup, background check processing, updating employee listings and email distribution lists, making arrangements for state identification card, office key and parking assignment, etc.
  • Complete forms to establish the appropriate security for employees needing access to SAM II Financial and HR, MOBIUS, Data Warehouse, etc.
  • Distribute email notifications to division staff – includes job announcements, press releases, and various facility notifications.
  • Provide technical support in the hiring process including job postings and working in MoCareers.

Qualifications – All you need for success Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two-to-three years of state government experience.
  • Working knowledge of SAM II system.
  • Knowledge of grammar, composition, and spelling and experience in proof reading
  • Ability to supervise, instruct, and train staff.
  • Capacity to multitask, work on several projects at once, and remain organized.
  • Available to work overtime hours (especially in December and January, during legislative session, and May/June).
  • Ability to maintain a high level of discretion when dealing with sensitive/confidential information.
  • Comfort with working independently and exercising sound judgment and discretion.
  • Knowledge of office practices, procedures, systems, and equipment.
  • Willingness and desire to innovate in practices and procedures.
  • Ability to successfully interact with high level state and private actors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five years of state government experience or prior experience with Budget & Planning
  • Familiarity with state government structure/organization – executive branch (departments), legislative branch (process), etc.
  • Knowledge/experience with Microsoft Office software

  • – Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher (or other publishing software), Drupal website publishing preferred
