This Administrative Aide position is with the Vehicle Impound Detail assigned to the Public Records & Services Bureau in the Phoenix Police Department. This position is responsible for assisting the administration of the Vehicle Impound Program.

Duties include and are not limited to:

  • Notifying drivers and owners of the impounded vehicles about their hearing rights.
  • Scheduling and overseeing hearings within 48-hours of request.
  • Researching vehicle owner information with Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) and Records Management System (RMS).
  • Communicating with the public in person and by telephone
  • Authorizing vehicle releases for the towing/storage facilities. Knowledge of Arizona Revised Statutes 28-871 and 28-3511, as well as Phoenix City Codes Chapter 36 and Chapter 23 section 23-55 is beneficial.

  • Knowledge of Arizona Revised Statutes and Law Enforcement Practices.
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in a cubicle environment with noise and frequent interruptions.

SALARY

Pay Range: $20.51 to $35.08 per hour.

Hiring Range: $20.51 to $23.74 per hour.

Please understand that this is pay grade 343. If selected, your salary offer will be based on the applicable promotion or demotion worksheet in accordance with the City Pay Ordinance.

  • Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
  • Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
  • When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four years of experience performing clerical duties.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • Working irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required.
  • All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
  • Positions in the Police Department must meet the background standards that are appropriate to non-sworn positions. The general factors for disqualification are listed here.
  • Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus experience:

  • With difficult customer service situations.
  • Multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • With Microsoft Word and Microsoft Calendar.
  • Working with Records Management Systems.
