Description Of Work

Provide complex and responsible administrative coordination and support for the William H. Thompson Scholars Learning Community. Perform time-sensitive and confidential document collection, data entry, and manage student database. Audit WHT course offerings, enrollment, and run initial scholar grade and retention checks. Manage WHT communication and correspondence, coordinate scheduling and travel for the WHT Director and professional staff, update marketing materials and web site. Purchase and maintain inventory of office supplies, oversee items on loan, and process invoices. Serve as primary receptionist and initial point of contact for students (current, former, and prospective), faculty, staff, administrators, and the general public. Greet and welcome visitors, identify visitor’s needs, and handle walk-in, phone, email, and mail communication.

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field plus three (3) years of office/secretarial/support experience required; an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may be considered.
  • Experience in customer relations and/or student services.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Publisher, Powerpoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills, including an ability to work in a high student traffic office.
  • Strong organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential matters.
  • Must have a student-centered philosophy and the ability to work effectively as a team member.
  • Ability to learn, use, and integrate complex information, ability to problem solve.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher education experience.
  • Familiarity with student information systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, MyRed, MyPLAN).
  • Experience working with at-promise students.

Posted Salary $20.192/hr minimum
