The Automotive Accounting Clerk is responsible for accurately processing financial transactions related to vehicle sales, inventory, payables/receivables, and title work. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced dealership environment and enjoys working cross-functionally with sales, finance, and leadership teams.
What You’ll Do
- Process daily accounting transactions including deals, deposits, and reconciliations
- Post vehicle sales, cost of sales, commissions, and associated fees with accuracy
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Review and verify invoices, contracts, titles, and payoff documentation
- Assist with new and used vehicle inventory reconciliation
- Process dealer trades, flooring schedules, and manufacturer statements
- Maintain accurate and organized records within the DMS (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack, etc.)
- Support month-end close, schedules, and audit preparation
- Partner with sales, finance, and management to resolve discrepancies quickly
- Ensure compliance with dealership policies, accounting standards, and state regulations
What We’re Looking For
- Automotive dealership accounting experience preferred
- Understanding of dealership accounting processes and terminology (deals, schedules, flooring, etc.)
- Experience with dealership management systems (CDK, Reynolds & Reynolds, Dealertrack) is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Team-oriented with strong communication skills
